Render Legible: Mock Design Convention
A digital rebrand for apparel brand Feral Kinds that honors historical craftsmanship by pairing the storytelling of heirloom textiles with contemporary art direction and minimalist typography.
The visual identity was later expanded into Inherited Adornment, a catalog publication featured in The Fabric of Austin exhibition at ATX.

Goal
Develop a visual system that carries the brand's tactile storytelling across digital and print touchpoints.
problem
Feral Kinds' values of craftsmanship, sustainability, and thoughtful making required a digital identity that felt as intentional as the garments themselves.

Rooted in sustainability and craftsmanship, Feral Kinds reimagines heirloom textiles as bespoke apparel with a refined, contemporary perspective.

The icons are designed with a hand-embroidered, woven-fabric aesthetic to highlight the designer's primary medium.

Hand with cuff symbolize the craftsmanship of the clothing and the adornment they carry.

Cardinal honors use and story of the heirloom textiles. The bird is often associated with reminders of deceased loved ones.

Daisies are symbolically important to the clothing designer and are a nod to the original logo for Feral kinds.

The three seedlings symbolize new beginnings for not only the heirloom textiles but also for the brand overall.

The pattern tile represents the structure and relevance to the brands efforts in tailored apparel.

takeaways
This project strengthened my ability to build visual systems that preserve a brand's values while adapting them across multiple mediums and touchpoints.
